Up until about 18 months ago I would never have believed that I would be in the shape I'm in now let alone that I would be going into my final assessment to become a Personal Trainer tomorrow.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had given up...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Convinced myself that this was who I was and learned to live with how I was... and even love the body I had...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I can honestly say thay getting healthy is one of the best decisions I have ever made and although it has been really hard at times, it has most definitely been worth it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The first thing that you need to be aware of is that nobody is going to just hand you the body you want.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whether you want to lean out, build muscle, lose weight or tone and sculpt your body, no one is going to just wave a magic wand and give you what you want.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nothing worth having ever comes easy and getting your dream body is no different. You must be willing to put the effort in every single day rather than giving up when doubt sets in.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No one is above self-doubt so it is important to learn not to let your setbacks affect your progress. Instead, use it as fuel to do better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

By starting the journey to your perfect body, you are making a commitment to yourself and no one can make that happen for you, except YOU!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There are so many ways of measuring and tracking your body goal progress for me I absolutely love my bioimpedance scales.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The scales allow me to not only track my weight but they also give me a break down of my body composition. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From the results you see here, you can see that my weight is high. When I first started trying to lose weight, maintaining the same weight for weeks would have devastated me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT when you look at it in more depth, my actual muscle mass 💪is above average and my body fat percentage is pretty descent (Something that I would not have been able to say a year ago)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just goes to show that just weighing yourself on a standard set of scales isn't always a good representation of your progress.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Would you believe that this time 6 months ago he had never had a gym membership and had never done any weight lifting...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now he's deadlifting 100kg for reps (30kg more than he weighs) 💪⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since we started, Matt has gained around 5kg of mainly lean muscle mass and reduced his body fat percentage by 4.5%. He's done so amazing!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He was a bit of a challenge to begin with as he has kyphosis which is a curvature of his thoracic spine so sometimes his form looks wrong even when it is correct. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He also struggles with his spacial awareness when he can't see the weight so it doesn't always travel balanced. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He has started seeing a chiropractor now to help correct some of this so hopefully we'll see even more amazing progress over the next 12 weeks ❤

I mean, look at some of my old photos, do I really look like a typical personal trainer? Some people would argue that I don’t look like a personal trainer now but hey, that’s something to talk about at a later date.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

First, let me take you on a journey through time. I’m not going to take you back too far, maybe a year or so…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I was morbidly obese and I absolutely hated the gym. I ate pretty much whatever I wanted, with a binge eating disorder, every day was a cheat day and the only exercise I got was taking the dog for a walk.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes I am completely amazed at the transformation I have achieved but I guess a lot can change in a year.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
